One of the stories floating around Sydney and particularly our office is this one about the apartment building that partially collapsed into a hole that formed next to tunnelling operations that were underway for the Lane Cove motorway tunnel. Seems like the tunnelers hit some shale, which forms in pockets or layers between sandstone, and can have characteristic resembling mud. No blame has been apportioned yet, but the premier of NSW has callewd for an enquiry.

Should be interesting to see how this pans out, with the current distrust of Public Private Partnerships for major projects.
